Appeal to Clare public to report missing or damaged ringbuoys

CLARE County Council have appealed to the public to report damaged or missing ringbuoys around the county.

In a notice published on the council's website, they asked anyone who notices a missing or damaged ringbuoy to report it to Water Safety Ireland through its online reporting form at watersafety.ie/ringbuoys or to the council themselves.

"Always remember a stolen ringbuoy is a stolen life," the notice said.

Members of the public should especially check ringbuoys on inland water sites such as lakes and rivers, as the majority of drownings in Ireland - 58% - take place inland, according to statistics on Water Safety Ireland's website.
