A CLARE Scout group are to be leased an woodland area to extend their base camp for as little as €1.
At the July Shannon Municipal District meeting last week, it was proposed that the Shannon Scouts Group be leased a parcel of woodland located beside their existing base camp at Tullyvarraga.
The lease price for the 1.2 acre plot would be €1, "if demanded," according to the motion from Carmel Greene, Senior Executive Officer of Clare County Council's property management unit.
Under the special conditions attached to the lease however, Shannon Scouts Group must agree to make a €1,000 contribution to the council's legal and mapping costs, and no permanent structures are to be constructed on the area.
The motion was fully approved by councillors at last week's Shannon MD meeting, the last before their summer break in August.
