A NUMBER of Clare projects are among the 70 projects set to receive €1.2 million in funding under the International Protection Integration Fund.
The Minister of State for Community Development, Integration and Charities Joe O’Brien announced €1,200,776 will be made available to 70 not-for-profit, civil society organisations for International Protection support based projects.
The Fund helps enable community based organisations across Ireland to play a greater role in supporting the integration of International Protection applicants at local and national level.
Clare Immigrant Support Centre (CISC) has been awarded €20,000 to put towards support and outreach to international protection applicants.
CISC are an Ennis-based organisation who aim to ensure access to appropriate state and community services and the upholding of all the rights and entitlements of all in the immigrant community. They also support individuals and families in their engagement with and access to state agencies and authorities, by providing translation, information, accompanied visits and advocating where necessary.
Two other organisations who operate in Clare were also awarded funding. ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services were awarded €6,040 for their ADAPTing for Wellness project, that aims to improve psychosocial support for female international protection applicants.
The Midwest Migrant Community Network (MMCN) have been awarded €20,000 to put towards health and wellbeing services for migrant women.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister O’Brien said: "The International Protection Integration Fund is a significant tool to assist civil society organisations with their invaluable work on helping to integrate people who come to Ireland seeking International Protection.
"The importance of this work with people who are at a particularly vulnerable time in their lives is crucial and every day we see the positive impact that civil society organisations make in helping to foster diverse and vibrant communities whilst supporting individuals," he said.
