Margot Robbie stars as Barbie
ONE CLARE town has been named fifth in the top cinema lovers in the country.
Shannon has been revealed as one of the most cinema loving towns in Ireland, with the first being Ballincollig in Cork.
Digital marketing agency, Digital Funnel, based the results off of Google data to determine which region was the most cinema obsessed.
Results were compiled by examining eight separate trending search terms in Ireland over the past week, which included “Barbie”, “Oppenheimer”, “Omniplex”, “Mission Impossible”, “Odeon”, “Imax”, “Cinema” and “Cinema Listings”.
Both highly anticipated Barbie and Oppenheimer films are released on Friday, July 21 in cinemas nationwide.
Barbie stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, who go on a journey of self-discovery after their expulsion from Barbieland, while Oppenheimer sees Irish actor Cillian Murphy star as American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, documenting his role in the development of the atomic bomb.
The research also showed cinema-goers are returning to the big screen in droves, with searches for the term “Cinema Times” increasing across Ireland 127% in the past month alone.
