HPV vaccine
CATCH-UP clinics in honour of Laura Brennan, HPV vaccine campaigner from Clare, are to be opened at Limerick Racecourse.
The programme is available for those aged under 25 years of age who were previously eligible but have not received the HPV vaccine yet.
Eligible people can register on www.hpv.ie for an appointment for a free vaccine, administered through HSE vaccine clinics.
The programme is supported by County Clare's Bernie and Larry Brennan, parents of the late Laura Brennan who campaigned for higher uptake of the HPV vaccine before her death from cervical cancer in 2019, at the age of 26.
The most common cancer caused by the HPV virus is cervical cancer, which is cancer of the neck of the womb.
Over 500,000 people have already received the HPV vaccine through the HSE school vaccination programme.
Clinics will be held at the Limerick Racecourse on Wednesday, January 11, Thursday, January 19 and Wednesday, January 25, each day between 9.30am to 1pm.
"The programme embodies Laura's message of vaccine promotion and will encourage and facilitate further uptake of this life-saving intervention," HSE Mid-West has said.
