A status yellow fog and ice warning has been issued for Clare
MET ÉIREANN has issued a status yellow fog and ice weather warning for County Clare.
The Irish National Meteorological Service stated that the warning is due to take effect from 11pm this evening (Sunday, January 1) and will remain in place until 11am tomorrow (Monday, January 2).
Met Éireann said: "Icy stretches along with patches of freezing fog may lead to hazardous road conditions in some areas tonight and on Monday morning."
Clare can expect some cold tonight with clear spells.
It will be dry apart from isolated showers, which may be wintry. Patches of freezing fog will develop also as winds become light variable. Lowest temperatures of -2 to 1 Celsius with patchy frost and ice expected.
Tomorrow in Clare is expected by very cold and frosty at first, while the warning remains in place.
There will also be icy stretches and patches of freezing fog. The frost, ice and fog, which will, however, the fog may linger in a few eastern spots into the afternoon.
Met Éireann has said that it will be dry for most with sunny spells but rain will develop during the evening.
Top temperatures are expected to be between 3 to 7 celsius, with light variable breezes.
