Counting has resumed here at the Clare count centre in Treacy's West County Hotel on Day Two of the General Election 2024.
Currently being distributed are the 596 votes from Matthew Moroney (IND), following his elimination on Count 5 shortly before midnight last night.
This is the sixth count here in the Banner County, with no candidate yet elected.
Senator Timmy Dooley (FF) is the closest to the 12,182 quota, but we may have to wait a few counts this morning before he garners the extra 770 votes to put him over the line.
The front runners for the remaining three seats here are his party colleague and incumbant Cathal Crowe, along with Clare County Councillors Joe Cooney (FG) and Donna McGettigan (SF).
Last night saw sitting TD Violet-Anne Wynne (IND) lose her seat on count 3.
Matthew Moroney (IND), Paddy Murphy (IND), Amanda Major (IND), Michael Loughrey (IP) and Barry Donovan (RAB) have also been eliminated so far.
Deputy Green Party leader Senator Roisin Garvey hasn't bucked the desperate trend set by her party across the country, scoring just 6% of the vote.
