Former Limerick hurler Barry Hennessy has been appointed as Smith O'Briens manager. Hennessy takes charge of the Clare club for the 2025 season.

The Kilmallock native will be aiming to guide the Killaloe club back to the senior grade of Clare hurling. Smith O'Briens last won the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship in 2021.

Hennessy has been building an impressive managerial CV. The former Limerick goalkeeper was in charge of Kerry club Lixnaw last year and he has been involved with the Ardscoil Rís Dr Harty Cup teams in recent seasons.

The four time All-Ireland winner won four Munster senior hurling championship titles during his inter county career with Limerick from 2010 until 2022.
