Clare Senator Róisín Garvey has thrown her hat in the ring for the role of deputy leader of the Green Party.
Senator Garvey is seeking to take over the role from Minister for Culture Catherine Martin last week following both her and party leader Eamon Ryan's resignations.
In a statement shared on her social media, the Inagh woman expressed her willingness to work with either of the two candidates for party leader, Minister for Children and Integration Roderic O'Gorman and her Seanad colleague Pippa Hackett.
Elected to the Seanad in 2020, she also serves as the party’s spokesperson for rural development, trade, enterprise, and employment.

"I have a good strong voice for our party, and I'd like to use that voice to bring our party forward, onwards and upwards," she said in her statement, asking for support and nomintations from her fellow Green Party members.
Senator Garvey joins Ossian Smyth, who has endorsed Pippa Hackett for leader, and Neasa Hourigan in the deputy leader race.
The Green Party will elect their new leader and deputy leader on July 13.
