Edna O'Brien died at the age of 93 in London
The funeral arrangements of acclaimed Irish writer Edna O'Brien have been announced.
The Country Girls author passed away in her London home on July 27, at the age of 93.
However it had been her wish for many years that she be laid to rest in her native county Clare.
According to a notice posted on rip.ie, Ms O'Brien's funeral mass will take place this Saturday, August 10, at St Joseph's Church in her home parish of Tuamgraney in east Clare, the church where she was baptised.

She will then be buried in accordance with her wishes in her mother’s family grave on Holy Island in Lough Derg.
“A lovely grave on Lough Derg... It’s a very wild grave,” she told The Irish Times in 2019.
Tributes have poured in to the late author, with writer Donal Ryan, whose grandmother was “distantly related” to O’Brien, hailing her as "one of the great writers of the past century".
"Her devastating ability to tear away layers of artifice to reveal her subjects' true nature was unrivalled. She was fearless and fiercely intelligent, and very kind. We are all in her debt," the Limerick writer said.
According to the rip.ie posting, Edna O'Brien is predeceased by her brother John, sisters Patricia and Eileen and her husband Ernest Gebler.
She is "deeply regretted" by her family, sons Carlo Gebler and Marcus Gebler, daughter-in-law Tyga Gebler, Marcus's partner Marieme Dieng, her grandchildren India, Jack, Finn, Georgia, Euan and Oscar, great-grandchildren Sam, Noah and Lexi, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and "sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, her large circle of friends and colleagues".
Edna O'Brien will repose at St. Joseph's Church, Tuamgraney, Co. Clare (V94 PW40), on Friday, August 9, from 5 pm with prayers at 8 pm.
Her funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, August 10, at 11 am with burial afterwards in Holy Island, and will be streamed online here.
