LIMERICK gardai seized a number of red smoke bombs before the Limerick v Cork match in TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.

A garda spokesperson said officers conducting searches of fans discovered multiple smoke bombs.

“These devices are not only illegal but also pose significant risks to public safety.Individuals found in possession of these items will now face prosecution.

“We urge all attendees for future games to prioritise safety and comply with stadium regulations,” said a garda spokesperson on An Garda Siochana’s social media pages.

Gardai had given fair warning to supporters ahead of the game, saying patrons are strictly prohibited from bringing smoke bombs, flares, or similar devices.

“An Garda Síochána will adopt a zero-tolerance approach, and offenders may face prosecution,” they said.

As Limerick ran out surprisingly comfortable winners by 16 points, Cork supporters probably would have kept the red smoke bombs for another day with the teams likely to meet again in the Munster final and possibly in the All-Ireland series.
