They say the black Volkswagen Golf car was travelling at 65/km/h in a 50km/h zone
A motorist racked up hundreds of euros worth of fines after multiple road traffic offences were detected during a routine roads policing operation in the village of Ballina, close to the Clare / Tipperary border.
The detection, made by members of the local Roads Policing Unit, has been highlighted on social media who say it's an example of what not to do when driving - even when you are insured.
They say the black Volkswagen Golf car was travelling at 65/km/h in a 50km/h zone and that 'N' plates were displayed when the driver was, in fact, a learner permit holder who was not accompanied by a qualified driver.

"The car was seized, the driver got fines of €440, points on their licence and also face a court date for no insurance," said a spokesperson.
If convicted of driving without insurance the motorists faces a mandatory disqualification, an additional fine and a potential prison sentence.
