APPEAL: Gardai seek to track movements of Audi car following burglaries in Clare towns

Three commercial premises were targeted by burglars wearing balaclavas in the same night

Gardai are appealing for information following three burglary incidents in Clare that happened close together on the same night.

In the first incident, gardaí in Ennistymon are investigating a burglary that occurred in the early hours January 23 at a retail premises at Main Street in the town.

"The alarm on the premises was activated just after 2.30am and four males wearing balaclavas attempted to break into the shop. The offenders were disturbed and they fled the scene in a black Audi vehicle which travelled in the direction of Ennis," said Sergeant Catriona Holohan.

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating a burglary that occurred at a retail premises at Lahinch Road, Ennis a short time later. "The alarm on the premises was activated just after 2.40am and four males wearing balaclavas entered the premises. A large quantity of goods was stolen and the males left the scene in a black Audi vehicle," said Sgt Holohan.

The third incident that is under investigation happened at Limerick Road, Newmarket on Fergus, sometime between 2.40am and 3am.

"Three males wearing balaclavas smashed the front window of the shop  and stole a large quantity of items from the premises. The offenders left the scene in a black Audi vehicle in the direction of Limerick," said Sgt Holohan.

Appealing for information, she added: "Clare gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have observed this vehicle in the
Ennistymon area or in the Ennis and Newmarket on Fergus areas after 2am to contact them. If you observed this vehicle or if you have CCTV on your home on this route or dash-cam footage on your vehicle, please contact Ennis garda station or your local garda station or the garda confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
