Number of burglaries on Clare-Limerick border targeting car keys

Gardaí have reminded Clare homeowners to ensure all their doors and windows are secured and to store car keys "out of sight" after a spate of burglaries near the Clare-Limerick border.

Limerick Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Ber Leetch issued the warning to homeowners after burglaries occurred in Meelick and Ardnacrusha where "the criminal was after the car keys and the cars."

In these cases, the car keys were spotted through the window, either on a hall table, radiator cover or kitchen table," she said.

"Always store your car keys in a press or drawer but definitely out of sight," Sergeant Leetch advised.
