For most, Christmas morning is all about being lazy, eating good food, and sitting by the fire, but for many, especially in County Clare, it is the time to embrace a frosty yet festive tradition; the Christmas Day swims, taking place in three separate locations throughout the county, all in aid of good causes.
A long-standing tradition, first taking place in 1989 and every year since, is the well-known and loved Lahinch Christmas Day swim, which is set to take place at 10am - attendees are being advised to note the earlier time this year is due to the tides.
Much like every other year, crowds will gather and brace themselves to plunge into the below-freezing water, to raise funds for Cancer Care West, a long established charity which helps cancer patients and families throughout the West and North West of Ireland, at no cost.
The Lahinch Christmas Day swim is a core part of the holidays for many families, and it is clear that this event will not be going anywhere!
If a cold morning swim is not your thing and you'd rather stay cosy in your pyjamas, you can donate to the worthy cause here.
