German retailer has plans to hire more than 40 new employees

ALDI begins recruitment drive in Clare

ALDI has announced plans to recruit over 40 new staff for its network of stores in Clare.

The retailer, which opened its first store in Clare in 2005 now has four premises across the county - in Ennis, Kilrush, Ennistymon and Killaloe.

The recruitment drive comes on the heels of ALDI's commitment to adopting the recommendation of the Living Wage Technical Group in 2024.

This means that from 1 February, the starting rate for store assistants and selectors increases to €14.80 per hour and reaffirms ALDI’s dedication to its almost 5,000-strong employees and its commitment to delivering market-leading rates of pay

ALDI is the first supermarket in Ireland to adopt the Living Wage recommendations in 2024.

Commenting at the launch of the recruitment drive, Brian O’Shea, director of human resources at ALDI Ireland, said: "Our commitment to offering market-leading pay, comprehensive benefits, and a focus on employee well-being underscores our belief in nurturing a motivated and fulfilled workforce.”

In addition to competitive pay, Aldi's new recruits will have access to dedicated employee benefits and comprehensive wellbeing support.

ALDI also prioritises career progression opportunities for its employees with initiatives such as the Women in Leadership Programme, which focuses on improving opportunities for women to progress to leadership roles across the business.

The retailer recently became the first Irish supermarket to receive the Ibec KeepWell Mark in recognition of its efforts towards promoting employee wellbeing.

Recruitment across the country is currently underway for various roles, including positions at new stores as well as filling existing vacancies.
