Contracts signed for construction of new housing development in Ennis

Clare County Council has appointed Jada Construction to develop the projects and work is expected to commence in the coming days.

Contracts have been signed for the construction of a group home and a single storey accessible unit in Ennis.

The developments at Cloughleigh Road and Shallee Drive, are being funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and are scheduled for completion in early 2026.

Clare County Council has appointed Jada Construction to develop the projects and work is expected to commence in the coming days.

Commenting following the awarding of the contract, Jason Murphy, Director of Services, Social Development Directorate, Clare County Council, said: “This project reflects the commitment of Clare County Council to delivering a diverse range of home designs within our communities. We are delighted to take this important step forward and we look forward to seeing the positive impact these homes will have on all those who live in them.”

Carmel Kirby, Interim Chief Executive of Clare County Council, said: “This is a very welcome project that will provide individuals with secure, high quality homes in the heart of a sustainable and vibrant community in Ennis. This project highlights Clare County Council’s commitment to delivering and meeting our targets under Housing for All.”

Cllr Alan O’Callaghan, Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, added: “I welcome the construction of these housing units, which will provide much-needed accommodation for people with additional needs. It is fantastic to see the Council constructing such unit types in County Clare.”

Cllr John Crowe, Chair of Housing Strategic Policy Committee, commented: “As Chair of the Social Directorate SPC, I am delighted to see the Council’s commitment to delivering social housing for people with disabilities. The delivery of units like these aligns with the Council’s objectives under the County Clare Strategy for Housing People with a Disability. It is indeed a very welcome development in Clare.”

The project design team, managed by the Housing Department within the Social Development Directorate of Clare County Council, includes: Hassett Leyden Flynn & Associates in the capacity of architects; P. Coleman & Associates as civil and structural engineers; Moloney Fox Consulting Engineers as mechanical and electrical engineers; and Lawlor Byrnes and Associates as quantity surveyors.
