Speaking in the Hogan Stand after being presented with the Liam MacCarthy Cup, Tony Kelly said: "This Clare team has been maligned for three of four years after being nearly there and knocking on the door. Well today, we kicked that door down. Days like this don't happen very often in the county Clare and it takes a very special group of players to achieve what we've done today."
What a final it was.

"This group of players have gone through setback after setback and shrugged it off year after year and kept coming back for more. We saw the finest hurlers that ever came out of our county and to ever play the game in Ireland as well and these group of players, not only the 26 that take the field, but the boys the tog out the 42 we have every night of the week training and pushing us and those boys deserve a massive round of applause," he added.
