Gardai say the vehicles did not have tax or insurance

A number of parked cars were seized by gardai as part of an operation led by members of the Clare Divisional Crime Task Force, it has been revealed.

Confirming details of the operation on social media, a garda spokesperson said: "As a result of an operation by the Divisional Crime Task Force and the Divisional Roads Policing Unit, a number of parked vehicles were seized from the Clancy Park area of Ennis for no Insurance or Tax."

No further information has been disclosed publicly but images shared on social media suggest at least  three cars were seized and removed from the housing estate.

Based on the photos, it appears a number of the cars were damaged before they were seized. One - a dark-coloured Toyota Avensis -  is missing a front headlight and has visible damage on the front bumper and wing.

It's understood fines will be issued to the registered owners of the cars which were seized and that they will also have to pay a release fee if they seek to have the vehicles returned.
