The official Christmas countdown has begun as An Post have released their final shipping dates for sending post, packages and parcels to our loved ones near and far.

As always, An Post has urged customers to get their post sent as early as possible as this time of year can get very busy very fast.

Below is all the dates you need to be aware of to ensure your post gets to its intended destination before Christmas.

Standard Post Letters:

* Republic of Ireland - December 22

* Northern Ireland - December 19

* Great Britain - December 18

* Rest of Europe - December 17

* USA - December 10

*Rest of the World - December 5
