Tributes are being paid to a young woman who died when her bicycle was involved in a collision with a truck as she cycled to work on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at a junction of Glenageary Road Upper, Mounttown Road Lower and Kill Avenue in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin, at around 8am.

Greta Price-Martin (22) from Templetown, Cooley, Co Louth, was a past pupil of Dundalk Grammar School and had finished her first year at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). She just started her first job in film production.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Her death notice posted on rip.ie by her family said she had “everything ahead of her, when she was struck down cycling to work on 24th April 2024. She will live on in the hearts and minds of her many family and friends”.

Ms Price-Martin is survived by her parents, Breffni and Vanessa, her sister Ruth, brothers Jack and Louis, and partner Charlie.

Her family expressed "deepest thanks" to the staff at St Vincent’s Hospital, "who did their best".

Many people have paid tribute to the young woman, including Vanessa Gildea, head of the National Film School, IADT, who said: "Words cannot express our sadness, shock and heartbreak at Greta’s passing, and at the loss of a much valued and cherished student and friend.

"We will miss her desperately, she was bright and brilliant.

"Sending you heartfelt condolences at this terrible time of grief, from all the staff and students of The National Film School IADT".

Robyn Maguire of the IADT admissions office wrote: "Although her time in IADT was cut tragically short, it’s clear she has made a significant impact amongst her classmates and the staff here in IADT.

"She will be dearly missed and her creativity and brilliance will not be forgotten".

Her friend Charlie wrote: "She gave me great movie recommendations and never failed to spark interesting conversations!"

A man who witnessed the accident offered his condolences to the family, writing: "I’m so incredibly sorry the loss of this beautiful soul. I was there when it happened, please find solace that everyone rushed to her aid and did all that they could.

"The loss of Greta’s life will not be in vain and will help to save lives at this dangerous junction".

Her college friends and colleagues paid tribute, remembering her as "always good for a laugh as well as a wonderful filmmaker and a genuinely sweet person" and a "genuinely amazing person".
