East Clare motorists warned of road closures for Motorsports Ireland Junior Rally Final
The Clare Forest Rally is the eight and final round of the 2024 MIJR series
Motorists in east Clare are being advised of temporary road closures to facilitate the Motorsports Ireland Junior Rally Series (MIJRS) on Saturday.
The L40121 near Corrakyle and the L82181 near Bodyke will be closed for stages of the final round in the MIJR 2024 series throughout Saturday, October 5.
The season-ending Clare Forest Rally is the eighth and final round of the 2024 Motorsports Ireland Junior Rally series.
After a pulsating season, it's set to be a two horse race this Saturday between drivers Craig Rahill and Tommy Moffett.
Both driving M-Sport Ford Fiesta Rally4's, Rahill holds the advantage on the scoreboard, but Moffett knows that any slip up from his rival could see him take home the title.
According to the Motorsports Ireland website, the Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally Series (MIJRS) is "the sole national dual-surface competition" and is designed to "develop future stars of the sport, with competitors ranging from 14-24 years of age competing across its classes, with prize funding to the tune of over €70,000 on offer through the Motorsport Ireland Academy as well as a further €15,000 prize fund sponsored by Race & Rally on offer".
The L40121 will be closed between 8.45am and 5.45 pm, from its junction at Derrycnaw to junction at Corrakyle (there is no alternative route for traffic as it is a gravel road with no residents).
The L82181 will be closed btween 10am and 7.30pm from its junction with L8216 at Caherhurley, Bodyke to the end of road at forestry entrance ahead (there is no alternative route for traffic as it is a cul de sac to a forestry entrance).
No traffic will be allowed to use these routes during these times.
