The R471, Cloonlara Road at Sixmilebridge will be closed for five weeks
Motorists are being advised to expect delays due to a planned five-week road closure in a busy Clare town.
In a public notice, issued under Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, Clare County Council says the R471, Cloonlara Road at Sixmilebridge will be closed to facilitate watermain upgrade works.
The full closure, which will be in place 24 hours a day, will take effect at 8am on Monday, May 19 and will remain in place until 6pm on Friday, June 20.

The local authority says diversions will be in place throughout the works (see map below).
Alternative routes / diversions
From Sixmilebridge, take the Tulla Road (R462); take the next right onto L-3016 and continue to Broadford. At Broadford, turn right onto R465 and continue to Carmody’s Cross. Visa-versa from opposite direction.
