ALERT: Gardaí issue warning as 'bogus' charity collector is reported in Clare

The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association are now concerned as they too have received a number of calls regarding this scam

Clare Gardaí 'anxious to identify' man allegedly pretending to raise money for charity

The male was identified as wearing a white t-shirt and it also appears that he called to local businesses in the area

Gardaí in Clare have said they are eager to identify a person accused of raising money for a charity under false pretences this past week.

Scariff gardaí are investigating reports of a male allegedly collecting for the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association in Scariff on Monday, May 19. 

With the incident taking place in Market Square, gardaí confirmed that they have spoken to this association, who stated they had no persons collecting for them on the day in question.

Further on from this, the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association are now concerned as they too have received a number of calls regarding this scam. 

The male was identified as wearing a white t-shirt and it also appears that he called to local businesses in the area.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in Scariff said, "We are anxious to identify this male, if anyone was in Scariff Market Square or if your business was approached and you have CCTV, if you have any information in relation to this man, please contact Scariff Garda Station on 061 922790."
