A CLARE player is celebrating after winning more than €40,000 in Friday's EuroMillions draw.
The National Lottery has confirmed the player was one of two people who each scooped €41,340 having matched five numbers on their Quick Pick tickets.
The Clare player purchased their ticket on the day of the draw at SuperValu on Frances Street in Kilrush. The second player bought their winning ticket on Wednesday, August 16 at Spar in Blackwater.
For the record, the winning EuroMillions numbers in Friday’s draw were: 23, 25, 30, 44, 47 and the lucky stars were 09 and 12.
Separately, a player in Monaghan has become Ireland’s newest millionaire following Saturday's Lotto Plus Raffle event.
The Lotto Plus Raffle typically sees between 60 and 120 winners of €500 in every draw but Saturday's draw saw one player enjoy an even higher windfall.
Each of the tickets with the winning Lotto Plus Raffle number drawn in the draw were entered into a once-off random draw where one ticket was selected to win an additional prize of €1 million.
While every ticket holder who had the winning Raffle number won €500, one player has won €1 million, in addition to the usual €500 prize.
The winning Raffle number was: 3249.
The National Lottery has confirmed that the winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on Thursday, August 17 at Centra on Main Street in Emyvale, County Monaghan.
