'Rain, rain, go away': Met Éireann issues fresh weather warning for Clare

Met Éireann is warning of heavy rain with a chance of thunder

IN THE aftermath of Storm Babet, Met Éireann is once again on high alert, and has issued a new weather warning for Clare set to take effect by the end of the weekend.

This new status yellow rain warning blankets not only Clare but the entirety of Munster and Connacht, similar to those areas that bore the brunt of major flooding this week.

The forecast from Met Éireann paints a picture of "rain, heavy at times with the chance of thunder," and highlights potential consequences, including "localised flooding and challenging travel conditions."

The warning extends over both provinces, from 6pm on Sunday until 4am on Tuesday. Motorists,

in particular, are being urged to exercise extreme caution if they must be on the roads during these hours.

Met Éireann is said to be closely monitoring the situation.
