ALERT: Renewed appeal for information after pub is broken into in Clare town

Investigations are continuing following two burglaries that took place within minutes of each other on the same night, just before Christmas.

According to gardai, both incidents happened in the early hours of December 17 - in Shannon and Bunratty.

"The first burglary took place at a public house at Drumgeely, Shannon at 3.26am. The suspects attempted to open the front door of the off-licence and members of staff shouted at the suspects who subsequently fled the scene," said a garda spokesperson.

"Approximately 19 minutes later, a second burglary occurred at a commercial premises in Bunratty at 3.45am," added the spokesperson.

While investigations are ongoing, gardaí believe that two males entered the premises in Bunratty before fleeing a short time later in a black Volkswagen Passat.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone that may have been in the Shannon / Bunratty area on the night of Monday, December 16 or the early hours of Tuesday, December 17 to contact them.

"Did you see a black Volkswagen Passat? Do you have CCTV or dash-cam footage? These individuals may have been in the area (earlier) on the Monday. If you observed anything that you thought to be unusual or suspicious, or if you have anyinformation, please contact us," said the spokesperson.
