Gardaí in Ennis are appealing for information following the theft of registration plates from a vehicle that was parked at the Lees Road Sports Complex in the town.

The theft occurred during broad daylight last Friday morning - sometime between 9am and 10.15am.

"The registration plates were stolen from a silver Kia Ceed hatchback," said a garda spokesperson who is appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the theft to come forward.

"We are appealing to anyone that may have been in the Lees Road Sports Complex last Friday morning and who may have seen someone near a silver Kia Ceed or who has dash-cam footage in their vehicle, to please contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100," they said.

Gardai are also advising members of the public to be mindful that these registration plates may be fitted to a similar car and used by criminals to commit a crime.

"If anyone observes a Kia Ceed acting suspiciously or is not familiar to your area, please contact your local garda station or 999 if you believe it is an emergency," said a spokesperson.
