Raidió na Gaeltachta’s roadcaster, An Ródaí is back on the road this summer, and will be at the heart of some of Ireland’s most loved traditional music festivals, kicking off with the Willie Clancy Summer School in Miltown Malbay, County Clare.

The 53rd Willie Clancy Summer School runs from Saturday, July 5 to Sunday, July 13, 2025.

RnaG has announced that Ceiliúradh Ceoil, a celebratory concert to mark the beginning of Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy 2025 will be broadcast live from Miltown Malbay on Sunday 6 July at 8pm.

The broadcast will feature Gradam Ceoil TG4 and Corn Uí Riada at Oireachtas na Gaeilge award winners and a number of guest performers. 

Ríl an Ródaí will be presented by Tristan Rosenstock every afternoon Monday July 7 to Thursday July 10 at 3pm, live from the centre of Miltown Malbay, featuring interviews and music with some of the country’s top trad musicians. 

RnaG Music Editor Neansaí Ní Choisdealbha will also present the best of trad music from the Willie Clancy Summer School on Ceol Binn ó na Beanna, live from the Ródaí from Monday July 7 to Wednesday July 9 at 7pm. An Saol Ó Dheas will also have music and conversation with young and old, from far and wide, live from Miltown Malbay on Thursday July 10 at 12pm, presented by Sláine Ní Chathalláin.

Next up, Ródaí RnaG will be at the Scoil Acla Summer School on Achill Island, where, on Monday July 28 and Tuesday July 29, Neansaí will present two special editions of Ceol Binn ó na Beanna. Iris Aniar will also air a live broadcast from Scoil Acla on July 29 featuring more music, interviews, and highlights from the summer school. 

The summer tour will continue at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Wexford, where RnaG will be broadcasting alongside RTÉ Radio 1 with all the action from the world's largest annual festival of Irish music, song and dance, live every day from Thursday August 7 – Sunday August 10. 

A new series of Ar Bhruach na Sionainne, a music and chat show presented by students from the University of Limerick will begin on July 1 at 1.30pm. The series will showcase traditional music and songs from the students themselves, along with some special guests. 

Cathal Ó Sándair, a new documentary series, airing on July 2 at 1.30pm, explores the life and legacy of the celebrated author who wrote over 160 Irish-language books for young readers in the mid-20th century. Best known for creating the beloved detective Réics Carló, Ó Sándair is regarded as the most prolific author in the history of Irish-language literature. 

Aistí ón Aer returns on July 11 at 2.05pm, showcasing new Irish language writing each week from new and established writers. Oileánach, a new series presented by Treasa Bhreathnach, will explore the uninhabited islands of Conamara, with memories and stories of island life, will begin on August 15.
