MET Éireann is warning of flooding on the east Coast as Ireland continues to feel the impact of Storm Babet.

Status orange weather warnings have now been issued for Dublin and Wicklow while status yellow warnings are also in place for Louth and Meath.

The latest status orange rain warnings, which are now in effect, will remain in place until 8am on Saturday with Met Eireann warning of potential flooding, poor visibility and dangerous driving conditions.

Speaking with Claire Byrne on RTÉ Radio 1, Gerry Murphy, senior forecaster with Met Éireann said: "We have upgraded the warnings for Dublin and Wicklow to orange and we can expect some very very heavy rainfall right up until tomorrow morning - the warning ends at 8am tomorrow morning. For this afternoon, Wicklow will get the heaviest falls but then it's going to rain steady in both (counties) and then this evening, Dublin is going to get some very heavy fall as we head through rush-hour and it is southern half of Dublin that gets the heaviest falls and all of Wicklow."

The status yellow warnings will remain in place until 9pm this Friday with the status orange warning remaining valid until 8am on Saturday.
