MET Éireann is warning there be 'heavy bursts' of rain with a potential for localised flooding in several counties this Thursday night and Friday morning.

The national forecaster has issued a status yellow rain warning for three counties - Limerick, Cork and Kerry.

"Heavy bursts of rain or showers overnight and Friday morning coupled with waterlogged soils and high river levels is likely to lead to  further localised flooding and dangerous travelling conditions," states the warning which comes into effect at 11pm this Thursday.

The latest weather warnings from Met Éireann will remain in place until 9am on Friday.

Earlier this week, several status orange weather warnings were issued and clean-ups are continuing in Cork and Waterford which were severely impacted.

Gardai and the Road Safety Authority are particularly appealing to motorists to exercise caution if travelling during any bad weather.
