Emergency crews and personnel from Clare Fire and Rescue have been deployed this Sunday to clear fallen trees from roads and other debris associated with Storm Ashley.

As the first named storm of the winter makes its way across Ireland a number of warnings, issued by Met Éireann, remain in place.

A status orange wind warning for Clare and six other counties remains valid until 8pm this Sunday while a status yellow wind warning for the entire country remains valid until midnight.

There have been no reports of any major incidents associated with Storm Ashley in Clare and ESB Networks says power has been restored to hundreds of customers whose electricity supply was impacted overnight or early this Sunday morning.

Met Éireann is urging members of the public to take responsibility for their own safety during the storm while the National Directorate for Fire & Emergency Management is urging people to stay away from coastal areas due to adverse weather conditions.

Feakle and Sixmilebridge were due to do battle at Cusack Park and the final has provisionally been rescheduled for 2.30pm on Monday, October 28 - a bank holiday.
