A FORMER BBC 1 radio star has visited a Clare library to find out his family history for a popular tv show.

Devin ‘Dev’ Griffin partook in the show Who Do You Think You Are?, a show whose premise is to uncover family history and trace ancestral roots.

Season 20, episode seven saw Dev fly to Ireland and visit the local studies centre in Ennis to research his family’s history. The show aired on Thursday, July 13 on BBC 1.

Born to an Irish mother and a Jamaican father, Dev Griffin grew up feeling like he 'didn't fit' in either community.

The broadcaster also traced his grandfather’s links to Kilkee and says he’s ‘proud’ of his Irish ancestors: “They were ready to put their own lives at risk in order to preserve the culture, to see an independent Ireland.

“I feel like I can really confidently say that I’m Irish and Jamaican now. Maybe for the first time ever, I truly belong somewhere.”
