Step towards tobacco-free Clare campaign continues
WORKING toward a tobacco and vape-free Clare is the aim of one local campaign.
Healthy Clare launched the Not Around Us campaign in 2021, to try reduce the amount of cigarette litter and improve the general health of those living in the county.
It has since been updated for 2023 and aligns with all of the government's sustainable development goals. The 2018 Clare survey shows that 23% of the population in Clare are smokers.
Not Around Us is about promoting an environment where it is easier for those who smoke to quit and stay quit and helping to de-normalise smoking for the next generation.
Healthy Clare is leading the campaign in partnership with a range of stakeholders, including the HSE’s QUIT-Mid-West team, Clare Comhairle na nÓg, Clare Children and Young People’s Services Committee, Clare Youth Services, Clare Sports Partnership, Greener Clare and Healthy Ireland.
