Sikh religious leader to visit Clare community

A prominent Sikh religious leader will visit Shannon this month.

His Holiness Sri Satguru Uday Singh Ji is the head of the Namdhari Sikhs, with a followship of over a million worldwide.

He will arrive in Shannon Airport on Monday morning, where he will be welcomed at the VIP lounge. Cllr. PJ Ryan and Senator Timmy Dooley will be present.

This is the third visit to Ireland by Guru Uday Singh. Previous visits to Ireland were in 2015 and 2019.

The Shannon area boasts a Sikh community of over 40 families, established in the 80s and 90s when Shannon Aircraft Motor Works Ltd was started by Paramjit Neote in 1988. As the company grew, 15 Sikh families moved here from India, establishing the Indian community in the region.

His Holiness will also visit the Clare cricket club grounds in Ballycasey, and a gathering will take place Monday evening with over 150 people, including followers from UK, Thailand, India, Canada, in attendance.
