A GOLF team representing a county Clare chamber placed second in an all-Ireland competition.

For the second year in a row, a team representing Shannon Chamber at the Chambers Ireland All Ireland Chamber Golf Champions competition claimed a podium position.

The competition saw fifteen teams, winners of their individual Chamber golf competitions from all over Ireland during 2023, compete for the overall title of Chambers Ireland All Ireland Chamber Champions.

The competition, sponsored by The Noel Group, took place on October 12 at the K Club in Straffan, Co. Kildare, the venue for this year’s Irish Open.

The CAE Parc Aviation team, comprising Michael Sillery (captain), Noel Lynch, Gavin McPhillips and Alan Brigdale, were runners up, while Alan Brigdale claimed the prize for the longest drive.

Mazars, representing Galway Chamber, claimed first place, while Cellnex Ireland representing Laois Chamber placed third.

Congratulating the CAE Parc Aviation team and thanking them for participating on behalf of Shannon Chamber, CEO Helen Downes said: "We are very proud, as I am sure our members are, to have CAE involved and to be placed second in a very competitive national competition. The ability to compete in this All-Ireland event has added an extra competitive element to our annual golf classic. We hope to continue this winning streak in 2024."

Michael Sillery, team leader Records Central Services, CAE Parc Aviation, commenting on the event, said: "We were delighted to get the opportunity to represent Shannon Chamber at this unique event in the All-Ireland Chamber Classic. To get to play the K-Club is always an amazing treat and it didn’t disappoint, with excellent course conditions and good weather.

"Thanks to the Chambers Ireland team who were very helpful and accommodating on the day and to The Noel Group, for sponsoring this great event. Thanks to CAE Parc Aviation for the polo shirts and hats, and finally, thanks to Helen Downes and her team and Shannon Chamber for giving us the opportunity to represent Shannon Chamber."
