'Severe disruption likely' as fresh wind warning issued for Clare and other counties

MET ÉIREANN have issued an updated wind warning for county Clare and other western counties.
Strong and very gusty westerly winds will reach storm or near storm force for a time on Wednesday evening.
This warning is an update to the Status Orange wind warning issued by the national forecaster earlier on Wednesday, December 27.
It is valid from 5pm Wednesday 12am Thursday morning, and will affect Clare, Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Wexford.
Power outages, coastal flooding and severe disruption is likely.
The public are also advised that this will likely also bring dangerous travelling conditions, especially for the more vulnerable road users, e.g. cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists and high sided vehicles.
Road users should pay particular attention to the risk posed by fallen trees and flying debris.
In a statement issued earlier, Clare County Council advised members of the public to exercise caution and to stay away from coastal areas during this period.
