Schools closed and thousands in Clare without power after heavy snowfall

Public transport and libraries also affected especially on Clare coast
Hundreds of people remain without power, while roads and schools are closed across west and north Clare after heavy snowfall on Wednesday night.
Up to 2,500 households lost power following the snows, particularly around Ennistymon, Liscannor, Creegh, Kilrush and Carrigaholt.
Public transport is also affected this Thursday morning, November 21, with a number of Local Link services disrupted due to treacherous road conditions.
The 7.20am service on the 335 route was forced to terminate at Kilmihil, and the C23 and 331 Ballyvaughan to Ennis has been stopped due to road conditions and trees down.
According to Clare County Council, Corkscrew Hill in the Burren is currently impassable, and their "Winter Maintenance Crew are already deployed to salt and plough roads where required".
According to the ESB Power Check, power has been restored to over 1,500 customers, including 851 affected by an outage at the Ennistymon sub station, as of this Thursday morning.
The ESB say they are "currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible" for more than 800 more customers across the county.
A number of primary and secondary schools are closed for snow days this Thursday as a result of the weather, including Scoil Mhainchín Ennistymon N.S. and Ennistymon Community College.
Killaloe, Kilkee, Lisdoonvarna and Sixmilebridge libraries were delayed in opening this morning due to the adverse weather conditions.
