A local national school on the outskirts of Ennis is set to get a new classrooms, after Clare County Council granted planning permission for the development.
Doora National School has received a green light for the construction of an extension to the existing school building.

As school numbers are expected to grow to 110 students with 19 full-time staff members, The Board of Management at Doora National School sought permission for the construction of a single storey extension at the side of the existing premises.
The development will comprise of additional classroom accommodation as well as additional parking, minor landscaping, drainage, plant and other related works.
The permission was granted on a conditional basis to ensure the development proceeds to the next stage in compliance with local environmental standards and safety regulations.
Planning permission was also granted for the creation of additional parking spaces on the premises to help meet the school's growing demand for these facilities.
Subject to funding be secured from the Department of Education it is expected works will begin during 2026.
