Paddy Wagons Tours Limited is seeking to change the use of part of its premises - at Mermaid House - from retail use and office use to a restaurant
Clare County Council has granted planning permission for the development of a new restaurant and car park in Liscannor.
Paddy Wagons Tours Limited is seeking to change the use of part of its premises - at Mermaid House - from retail use and office use to a restaurant.
The development, which has now been approved, also consists of the reordering and extension of the existing car park to the rear of the premises to provide 14 carparking spaces and 15 bicycle spaces. A bus pull-in will also be provided along with four on-street parking spaces to the front of Mermaid House, which is located at Main Street, Liscannor.
A condition imposed by council planners dictates that the restaurant only be used by customers of Paddy Wagon Tours and that it "shall not be open to visiting members of the public".

While the substantial element of the planning application has been approved by the local authority, the proposed retention of external signage on the gable of the building has been refused permission.
In a letter confirming the decision, the local authority said the signage would be "injurious to the visual amenities of the area" and would be contrary to council objectives relating to 'Scenic Routes' as per the Clare County Development Plan.
