LATEST: Investigations underway after man (80s) is struck by car in Clare

Both gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of this road traffic collision

An elderly pedestrian has been hospitalised after being struck by a vehicle in Clare, An Garda Síochána have confirmed.

Both gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of this road traffic collision, which occurred along Abbey Street in Ennis.

The incident took place on Monday, December 8, shortly after 1pm. 

The male pedestrian, aged in his 80s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. No other injuries have been reported. 

A spokesperson for gardaí in the county has said that investigations are ongoing.
