Just over €2 million in funding has been announced for works on national roads across County Clare.

The funding, allocated by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, will be made available to Clare County Council during 2025.

A total of €1.49 million is to fund capital investment which covers protection and renewal works while an allocation of almost €572,000 has been given for routine maintenance works on national primary and national secondary roads in Clare..

In the announcement confirming the funding, a number of specific projects have been identified.

These include minor works on the N19 Shannon Airport Access Road (€842,000); minor works at Blake's Corner, Ennistymon (€120,000),  minor works on the N67 Mountcharles Tec. Kilkee RSIS (€72,000) and the installation of pedestrian crossings in Doonbeg and at the Clareabbey Roundabout between Clarecastle and Ennis.

Announcing the funding allocation, which totals more than €63 million nationally, Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien, said: “Funding new roads and advancing the national road projects in the current National Development Plan is a priority for this government. The allocations will enable multiple new road projects on the national road network to progress, including those that are at or close to construction. This will improve regional connectivity, support economic development, and remove traffic from towns and communities across the country – making the roads safer for all users."
