A Clare motorist failed an early-morning roadside breath test after they were stopped at a joint garda/customs checkpoint in Crusheen.

Highlighting the detection on social media, gardai say the motorist had been drinking the night before but that the level of alcohol in their system was still above the legal limit the following day.

"If you are drinking and planning on driving the next day, be aware you could still be over the limit. This is what happened the driver of this car who was recently arrested by our Roads Policing unit in Crusheen after failing a breath test," added the spokesperson.
