This news comes just hours after Clare Council confirmed the opening of five community hubs for those affected by Storm Éowyn

Storm Éowyn hit Co Clare full force with its record-breaking winds last Thursday evening, and into Friday afternoon.

The aftermath of the Status Red wind warning resulted in shocking damage throughout the county, including the loss of power and water in numerous areas, along with destruction of many caravans, homes, trees, and even part of the sea wall, which collapsed near Kilrush.

With power out and restoration times estimated to be one week in some areas, Uisce Éireann provided some good news for affected residents.

The water industry company have confirmed they are working on restoring water supplies across the county, and in the meantime are bringing water supplies to a number of affected communities.

Clare County Council's Interim Chief Executive, Dr Carmel Kirby, has paid tribute to the community response during and after the storm.

Dr Kirby said, “There has been a huge response from community groups and businesses across the county, and this support is invaluable during these unprecedented weather events. As the lead authority for the Local Coordination Group, Clare County Council has been working closely since before Storm Éowyn with the ESB, Úisce Éireann, the HSE, An Garda Síochana and other relevant bodies to coordinate available supports and assistance,

"Drawing on shared information from all these bodies, Clare County Council has identified the areas in greatest need and established hubs for these locations and will also consider smaller satellite locations as required,” she concluded.

As of 12pm today,  a temporary water supply will be provided by Uisce Éireann at the following locations: Ballyvaughan Church carpark, O’Donovan’s pub in Fanore, McGann’s pub in Doolin, Lisdoonvarna's The Pavilion, Miltown Malbay's GAA pitch, the Lahinch Beach carpark, Ennistymon's water bottle refill station, O’Meara’s shop in Flagmount, the Killaloe GAA pitch, and Cratloe's Woodcock pub.

This news comes just hours after Clare County Council confirmed the opening of five community hubs for those affected by Storm Éowyn.

These hubs provide those in need with facilities for personal hygiene and power sources, they will also be a source of information and support.
