Name that gritter! Clare County Council launches competition for primary school pupils

The local authority says winning entries will have their chosen names displayed on the gritters and that they will receive a certificate of achievement

Students from primary schools across Clare are being encouraged to submit creative names for seven gritters that maintain road safety during icy conditions.

Clare County Council, which operates the gritters year-round, says the competition is a great chance to help name seven of its hardworking gritters that keep roads safe during icy weather, such as that during the recent cold snap.

The local authority says winning entries will have their chosen names displayed on the gritters and that they will receive a certificate of achievement.

The winners will also enjoy a photo opportunity with the named vehicle.
