Child dies after tragic incident outside house in Ennis

An infant has died following a tragic incident at a residential area in Ennis.

Gardaí are at the scene of a fatal road traffic incident on Quin Road, Ennis, Co. Clare that occurred shortly before 12:30pm this afternoon, Wednesday 8th May 2024.    

"A male infant was transferred from the scene to University Hospital Limerick," a garda spokesperson said.

The child has since been pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

"A family liaison officer is being appointed to support the family at this time," gardaí said, and "no further information is being made available".

The scene is currently preserved pending an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
