Lost dog spends the day at Kilrush garda station before being bailed out by owner

Kilrush garda station had a new guard dog for a day after they took in a stray.

The blonde labrador retriever was found on N68 Kilrush to Ennis road, two miles on the Ennis side of the town, on Sunday, April 28.

The pup happily "posed for mugshots", which gardaí shared on Facebook and issued an appeal to the public to help locate his owner.

"We are trying to see if he is microchipped but would like to find his owner ASAP as I'm sure someone is missing him," the post on the An Garda Síochána Clare Facebook page read.

They shared more pictures in the comments, sharing that "since he wants to stay with us we've decided he can earn his keep, he has taken up as observer in CV101".

Later, gardaí shared an update that the owner had been found.

"Folks thanks for all the help, his owner has been in contact with us," they posted.
