Gardaí on patrol in East Clare detected motorists travelling at speeds of almost double the limit in 50km zones this weekend.
The Roads Policing Unit in Tipperary conducted active patrols on Saturday, April 13, monitoring speeds on roads around the Clare/Tipperary border.
They shared a number of examples of speeds observed in 50km zones on official garda social media channels.

Motorists were detected doing speeds of 81km, 83km and 94km in 50km zones, with fixed charge notices issued in each case.
An Garda Síochána urged motorists to slow down, asking the public to "please drive safely this weekend and allow sufficient journey time".
