Family Carers Ireland the charity providing support to family carers across the country, is thrilled to announce a number of locations in county Clare for its national fundraising event, the exhilarating ‘Cold Water Dip’.
Scheduled for Sunday, April 21, this event calls upon the community in Clare to make a splash for a noble cause.
Each year, the ‘Cold Water Dip’ stands as a unique opportunity for supporters to engage in a fun, spirited activity while championing the invaluable work of family carers.
Participants are invited to register for the event via the Family Carers Ireland website with a modest entry fee of €10. For those inspired to go the extra mile, an optional fundraising page is available, aiming for a target of €50per participant.
In addition to O’Briensbridge, Lahinch and Milltown Malbay in Clare, the ‘Cold Water Dip’ will also make waves in Rosses Point in Sligo, Keem Beach on Achill Island, and Hodson Bay, Roscommon.
Participants are welcome to join at these locations or choose their own spot to take the plunge, symbolising their support for family carers nationwide.
Among the enthusiastic participants is Michael Davis from Limerick, a dedicated carer for his wife, “Family Carers Ireland has been a lifeline for me. While caring brings its joys, it often comes with a sense of isolation. However, the resources and support I've received from Family Carers Ireland have been a constant reminder that I'm part of a community.
“You can show your support for family carers by joining the Cold Water Dip challenge on Sunday, 21st April. It's an exhilarating way to contribute, raising vital funds to ensure that no family carer ever feels they're walking this path alone."
Jean Ryan, Community Support Manager at Family Carers Ireland in Limerick, echoes Michael’s sentiments, “We are encouraging everyone in Limerick to dive into this unique opportunity to support a vital cause. The ‘Cold Water Dip’ is more than a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of family carers.
"We stand with Michael and all the countless other family carers, recognising their unwavering commitment. We invite everyone on April 21 to take part in this memorable event. Together, we can make a difference, one dip at a time.”
