Detections for road traffic offences in the Clare/Tipperary division are among the highest in the country.
That's according to figures shared by An Garda Síochána at the Clare Joint Policing Committee meeting this week.
Almost 2500 tickets have been issued by gardaí in the Clare/Tipperary division in the first quarter of 2024 for road traffic offences.
Of these, 1,654 have been issued for Lifesaver offences, i.e.: non-wearing of seat belts, driving under the influence of drink/drugs. speeding and holding a mobile phone while driving.

607 tickets were issued for other offences.
Clare has seen one road fatality so far in 2024 however across the division there have been 15 incidents that have resulted in serious injuries.
There have been 96 arrests for driving under the influence, and gardaí have seized 282 cars across the division for driving while defective or without insurance.
Addressing the members of the Joint Policing Committee, Chief Superintendent Aileen Magner praised the "massive contribution by regular gardaí" to the figures.
